Updates for May 27th and 29th

Hi all,

Bit of a lengthy update ahead of this week! First up, although we're always thinking optimistically, a reminder about weather issues:

If there is a lot of rain during the day, we'll do a check of the diamonds a couple of hours ahead of game time. If the diamonds are too soaked and it's unsafe to play, we'll make a cancellation announcement here and on Facebook. The other no-go is a thunderstorm; if that's happening, we would cancel the games and practices as well. Of course, if the weather turns once we're already there we'll make that call on the field.

When in doubt, you can always call 905-658-0088 and check the outgoing message. If it says nothing about weather and nothing is posted here, it's game on!

This Wednesday features our first theme event: it's "Rep your other favourite team" night! This means that whatever team is your second favourite (the Mastodons being your #1, of course), if you have a jersey, hat, or any other swag for that team you can wear it that night! It doesn't have to be baseball, and just keep in mind that if it's the Yankees you will be subject to a little friendly razzing from Coach Dave.

Finally, Coach Lydia has set up an opportunity for Mastodons players and families to purchase special group tickets to see a Welland Jackfish game on June 8th as they play the visiting Kitchener Panthers. Check the poster below to see all that you'll get for a $23 ticket - it's quite the package!

We ask that you bring the exact payment in cash to Patty at the ballpark on either this Wednesday the 29th or Monday June 3rd. Lydia will then have time to get the tickets to distribute to everyone on June 5th.

Pre-season update ahead of May 1st

  Here's an update and confirmation of times ahead of next week: on Monday, May 1st, all ages and divisions will meet at the diamonds at 6:00. There will be stations set up around the facility for players to rotate around and practice hitting, catching, throwing, pitching, and fielding. We'll begin splitting off into different age divisions, and then teams, over the course of the first couple of weeks, with all of that info to be posted soon. We'll have a full season schedule with the days of special events coming soon as well. Remember that we will provide bats and helmets, though players are welcome to bring to their own if they wish. They must bring their own glove. More updates to come before May 1st.

Paper copies of registration forms available

Good morning all, For those wanting paper copies of our registration form, you can now find them at the town hall, the library, and the three schools in Wainfleet (and still online here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1nCgH5r1tuuf3M-oAEHyL38IPJ5yKEh_u/view?usp=sharing ). Also, this was sent in by one of our league's families: a baseball instructional session run by the Toronto Blue Jays that will be in Thorold in June (among other places).
